Using inertial measurement unit (IMU), EDR-3C is a portable, digital sensor/recorder designed to measure shock, vibration, temperature and (as an option) humidity, pressure, or resistance-bridge devices. The IMU tags all acceleration events with a time and date to provide a time history of the dynamic environment experienced during a recording session. The EDR-3C series recorders IMU to offer you a time-tested reputation for proven performance and reliability with hundreds of successful installations since 1989. The EDR-3C series operate similarly and differ only in programmability features, on-board memory and channel capacities. Each recorder is powered by a specially designed C-Cell battery pack. The EDR-3C is used in conjunction with DynaMax programs and downloads the recorded IMU measurements via a computer using serial & USB.
Each transportation data logger measures and records the peak acceleration levels to which it is exposed along with shock duration and velocity change. In addition to measuring peak-g shock levels with a built-in sensor, the SSP transportation data logger also measures and records shock duration and velocity change for all events which exceed user defined thresholds. The SnapShock plus (SSP) series transportation data logger is compact, battery powered event recorders. The new generation devices offer several improved capabilities over the standard Snap Shock model. In addition the SSP is now available in triaxial version referred to as the SnapShock Plus/3D (SSP/3D). The SSP/3D offers all features of the SSP transportation data logger with the benefit of 3-dimensional measurement capability.
Indy race cars are equipped with a crash recorder for use during time trials and actual races. The Instrumented Sensor Technology, Inc. (IST) model EDR-3 environmental data crash recorder was selected by the GM Motorsports Technology Group late last year for installation on all 1993 Indy cars. The crash recorder was widely used on most Indy cars for the first time during the Indianapolis 500 race in May 1993. They are now being used regularly in all subsequent Indy car races, including the recent Detroit Grand Prix at Belle Isle, Michigan. Crash data will then be used in improving various safety and design factors with race cars. Originally designed for environmental measurement of packaging/handling shock, drop, and vibration the crash recorder has many uses.
With an impact recorder you can model a package's ability to protect a product from damage? Most packages are very complex in how they absorb energy. It is totally dependent on where the collision is applied. Most impact recorder testing makes assumptions about how a package absorbs energy in any given direction, and then applies the assumptions to the drop data. DynaMax Package Profiler for portable impact recorder does not make those assumptions: Instead, it uses the drop data to actually calculate the energy absorption for your package. A series of controlled drops is then used calculated a three-dimensional image of the coefficient of restitution. Call us today at (517) 349-8487 to order an impact recorder.

The portable accelerometer is a piezoresistive devices, offering superior low frequency response characteristics and extremely low power consumption. Each EDR-3C is supplied with a specially designed and calibrated with a built-in triaxial portable accelerometer. The EDR-3C recorder provides automatic digital offset correction between recording events. This feature compensates for DC offset resulting from temperature variation, as well as changes in orientation. Acceleration recording can be configured for the internal triaxial channels or up to 3 optional external inputs. The optional external portable accelerometer input channels are designed for use with "low bias" versions of ICP piezoelectric voltage mode devices. External channels provide signal conditioning, filtering, and constant current excitation for use with voltage mode portable accelerometer.
IST maintains an extensive accelerometer rental inventory to accommodate customers who have short term data recording requirements. Availability is generally from stock and subject to availability. IST will guarantee availability for all accelerometer rental orders placed two weeks in advance. Each accelerometer rental comes with IST DynaMax for Windows DM-base software package. The software license has unlimited seats. It does not expire after the rental period is over, and is good for use with all data taken as well as concurrent rental recorders. This allows you to spend the rental period gathering data, and then take as much time as needed to analyze it. All accelerometer rental DynaMax™ modules require either DM-Base, or DM-1 software.

The MotionMaster, now including an angular rate sensor and triaxial accelerometer in the same package, like all of our recording systems, is stand-alone and battery powered. It is designed to measure shock, vibration, temperature and humidity, pressure, or resistance-bridge devices. It is very rugged and immune to angular rate errors caused by severe linear accelerations. Each EDR-6DOF MotionMaster is supplied with a specially designed and calibrated built-in triaxial accelerometer, and built-in angular rate sensor. The internal triaxial accelerometer and rate sensor are piezo-resistive devices, offering superior low frequency response characteristics and extremely low power consumption. Acceleration/rate recording can be configured for the internal channels of the triaxial accelerometer or up to 3 optional external inputs.
Instrumented Sensor Technology introduces the new solid state, electronic shock detector and timer. This low cost, patented monitoring device is an electronic, self-contained, battery operated, shock detector or sensor with time stamp. Once installed and control activated by the user, the sensors record the measurement of bi-axial jolts and impacts on the surface plane (product or shipping container) to which it is mounted. If any movements occur that exceed the trip level for the shock detector and timer, then the clock stops, freezing at a fixed point in time. This means you get solid documentation when excessive handling occurs and may correlate to in-transit damage control. See how a shock detector could help to secure your company’s shipments.
